Persuasive Letter

Dear Principal,
Hi? My name is Hyun Ju Choi from 6th grade in Mrs.Daly’s math class. I give you a suggestion. Why don’t we build a park beside our school? It would be for everyone in Mon’t Kiara International School. You should use my park, because everyone could use it including blind or injured people who has wheel chair. My park has two side walks. One is for normal people and one is for blind or wheelchair people. One of the side walk is spilt into half. One is for blind people and one is wheelchair people. For blind people side walk it has patterns that blind people could follow. For wheelchair people side walk, it has no patterns, because when wheelchair people follow the blind people side walk, they might bump each other and wheelchair people might have a trouble of going straight. My park has playground so little children could play around, and it has picnic area so people could eat food there. There are many trees so the park will be fresh. I didn’t put any drink shop or any shops, because maybe it might be bad for peoples’ health. People could bring their own fresh healthy food and eat it in my park. People will love when we build a park beside our school. You could put donation box or something so when people pass by they could put donate for donation. Think about it. It will be a great idea.

Bye,
Sincerely Hyun Ju Choi

Reflection

Our class made a Park project. Not only had we made the park for creativity we also use our math skills on this like calculating the dimensions or the area of a circle, rectangle, triangle, and other many figures or shapes. We made our parks using computer software called free hand. It was quite hard for me to make a park, because this is my first time using that software and I couldn’t control my park. It was a little confusing when something didn’t work correctly, because people tried to help me and unfortunately it didn’t work, but when the computer teacher, Ms. Cofino, helped me, it worked. So I wasted a lot of time working on this because of my silly mistakes. It was easy figuring out dimensions or area of shapes, because in the computer, there was a calculator. So the answer just came out when I put numbers in it. For ESLRs, I think I’m a self-directed learner, because I learned how to use a software called free hand and also I created the park myself but with some help. I was weak on using new software correctly, but I was strong on calculating dimensions and areas of a shape. I hope there would be a time that I could use the new software again so I could learn more about it.
